Man lives with 2 meter alligator

In Kure City, Hiroshima, Japan, lives Mr. Nobumitsu Murabayashi, a 65 year old man who has been living with an alligator for 34 years. The alligator’s name is Caiman, and it is a male spectacled caiman. He bought the baby alligator at a festival without thinking too much about it, and now it’s grown into a hefty 2.1 meters and 46 kilograms. Though Mr. Murabayashi keeps a massive tub of water in front of his house for Caiman, he roams freely, spending a lot of his time in the tatami room, or sometimes the bathroom. Because of this, he has to have the tatami renewed once a year, and the sliding paper doors are full of holes. Despite that, Mr. Murabayashi cares for Caiman like his own son, and when he has time he takes him for walks in the city. Don’t worry, he has permission from the city government! He’s been featured in TV shows before, and many people know about him, but still, when people see the huge alligator walking down the street, even the locals stop and stare at him closely. With his children all grown up and independent, Mr. Murabayashi now showers Caiman with all of his attention. Caiman, who is expected to live another 20 to 30 years, has become the joy of Mr. Murabayashi’s life.

• There's a hedgehog in my BATH! The animals are under threat - but not this pampered pet who loves nothing more than a swim

After a week of prickly news for hedgehogs, at least this adorable little chap looks bristling with joy.
But then Hokey is an African Pygmy hedgehog living the high life in an apartment rather than taking his chances in the wild like Britain’s declining one million hedgehogs.
Shockingly, earlier this week a hedgehog was found in student accommodation at Sheffield University, with his spikes cruelly cut off.

Frankie, as he has been named, is being nursed back to health at an animal sanctuary.
How different things are for Hokey. Col Skinner, 29, a digital marketing consultant, and partner Beki Smith, 24, a social media executive, bought him for £200 from a specialist breeder at eight weeks old.
Now aged nine months, he has settled in to their second- storey flat in Manchester and enjoys the run of the place when the couple get home.
Mr Skinner said: ‘We chose him after finding out they make great pets. He loves swimming in the bath then getting wrapped in a flannel. They’re natural swimmers.’

However, an RSPCA spokesman sounded a note of caution: ‘African Pygmy hedgehogs have more specialist requirements than more traditional domesticated pets, so it’s difficult to meet their needs in a household environment.
‘We would encourage people to consider adopting a more traditional animal (like a cat or dog) from a rehoming centre.’
Horror at Spanish festival where live animals are set on fire:

Writhing and snorting in a demonic rage, a burning bull charges out of the darkness as if sent straight from the depths of Hell.
This is not some apocalyptic vision from medieval folklore, but the Spanish festival where live bulls are set on fire and let loose about a village's streets for entertainment.
Disturbing new images have emerged of this annual Spanish bull burning festival which animal rights campaigners are demanding be banned.
The Joy of the Bull - or Toro de Jubilo - is one of the 'cultural' highlights of Medinaceli village, northeast of Madrid
Every year a young bull is dragged into a ring before its body is covered with mud to protect it from burns
Participants then strap wooden stakes doused in flammable chemicals to its horns, and set it on fire,Fiercely hot sparks and embers drip from the burning torches onto the animal as men torment it to prove bravery
• Meet Kama the surfing pig! He even has sponsorship deals, an Instagram account and can handle serious wipe-outs

This little piggy will never find himself inside a Hawaiian imu.
Kamapua'a, or Kama for short, is a surfing pig professional who can balance on a board and ride out wipe-outs with class, to the wonder of beach-goers.
He's so good that Costco gives him free surfboards and his devoted owner, Kai Holt, has promised never to cook him in an imu, a Hawaiian underground oven.

'I think he enjoys it, you know. He really gets off on it. It seems like he has a good time out there,'

'You know surfing is Hawaii's gift to the world. It's like true happiness, you know, that's what this guy does. Everywhere he goes he just makes people smile and laugh. He just brings joy to the world.'
Little Kama's surfing adventures began a few months ago when he stumbled into the Holt family's cabana at Bellows Beach.

They took the abandoned piggy home and discovered he could swim when he fell into the backyard swimming pool.
'I had no idea pigs could swim,' Holt said.
It wasn't long before Holt and his son Braiden took Kama to Sandy Beach and the four-legged waterbaby was jumping onto Holt's standup paddle board.
'It's funny when there's a big wave and a bump coming and he launches into the air,' Braiden said.
'I think he's gonna drown, but he just pops right up out of the foam.'

Holt and Kama's bond is so close, they go everywhere together and even sleep in the same bed.
'As long as he lives, he's not gonna see a dinner plate, that's for sure,' Holt said. 'He wont see the inside of an imu.'
The black pig has become such a pro, he is sponsored.
He gets free boards from Costco, clothes from Local Motion and received a Go Pro camera from the Bike Factory.
He even has his own Instagram account, kamapighi, where he keeps his more than 940 followers up-to-date on his adventures.
Kandu - the little dog that could

Kandu was born without front legs. His original owners, fearing the Jack Russell terrier would never have a normal life, left him at a local shelter to be euthanized.

Ken Rogers and his wife, Melissa, were watching the news one night at their home near Steamboat Springs, Colorado when they saw a segment on Kandu which melted their hearts.

They immediately applied to adopt him - along with 99 other families.

When Ken and Melissa brought Kandu home, Ken got right to work on a contraption made of molded plastic and rollerblade wheels so Kandu could get around.

“Now he can run with the other dogs,” says Ken, who even designed a mono-ski for Kandu so he can play in the snow.

“He doesn’t think he’s handicapped,” says Ken. “He’s got such spirit.”

Meanwhile, Melissa has been visiting nearby Yampa Valley Medical Center with Kandu to lift patients’ spirits. When it is time for his “shift,” Kandu runs towards the hospital doors. “He’s pure joy,” says Melissa.

Patients who are struggling to recover from strokes, accidents, serious illness or operations react when they see Kandu scampering around. Perhaps they think “If Kandu can do it, maybe I can too.”

Kandu has been so successful at getting around on just two legs that Ken and Melissa have adopted a playmate for him - Luci - a Chihuahua which was also born without any front legs.
Pukka up! A kiss for the son who made Jamie Oliver’s family complete

It was the one missing ingredient in his recipe for the perfect family.
Jamie Oliver introduced his long-awaited son to the world with a tender kiss... or what the TV chef might have called a pukka pucker.
Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver (might he become known as Buddy Oli?), arrived on Wednesday evening in what mother Jools described as a 'hard and fast labour', which lasted two and a half hours.
The couple already have three daughters, living in what Jamie has referred to as a ‘totally oestrogen-filled house’.
As he stood outside Portland Hospital, Central London, with Poppy Honey, eight, Daisy Boo, seven, and 18-month-old Petal Blossom Rainbow, his joy at finally having a boy overflowed.
'It’s wonderful. I didn’t think I had it in me,' he said
When asked what inspired the name Oliver, 5, pointed to his wife.
Shrugging her shoulders Mrs Oliver, also 5, said: 'I just like the name Buddy, I thought it was sweet.'
The Maurice is in honour of her father, who died in 1997 after a stroke.
Oliver said: 'I never thought for a moment I would have a boy. All you can ever dream of is having a healthy child and that’s the best thing in the world.
'In a way it would have been easier to have had a girl. We’re not prepared for a boy – there’s no blue in the house.'
Dressed in jeans and ballet pumps, Mrs Oliver looked happy but exhausted.
Her husband announced Buddy Bear’s arrival on his Twitter page declaring: 'It’s a baby boy guys!!! We’re all very happy, mum was amazing and both are well and happy.'
Earlier in the year, he said if they weren’t able to have a boy he might adopt.
'I would consider it. We have three beautiful, healthy girls and we cherish them. But I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be great to have a boy.
'Adoption is such a selfless act. It’s humbling and beautiful to see.'
'Adoption is such a selfless act. It’s humbling and beautiful to see.'

Amazing Art From the Sky
Imagine if your job was to work with a couple of thousand elementary school kids at the same time -- to keep them on task, doing the same project, where everyone needed to be exactly in place for it all to work. "The teachers are always worried that it's going to be chaos, that kids are going to cause all kinds of problems," says Daniel Dancer. "But it never happens. There's always love and joy present instead -- it's palpable how present it is."
Dancer is a pioneer of what he calls sky art
as a photographer with a special passion for aerial work, led Dancer to his present work. He's hired by school districts that write grants to raise the money for the art pieces; Dancer arrives, and the first job is to hold an assembly where he shows pictures of his past projects. "Once they realize what they can do, they're all on the same page, they all want to do good, even the problem kids,"
• You'd have to be blind not to love this cute golden retriever puppy

Ray Charles is the Internet's new favorite dog - a blind golden retriever puppy recently discovered by Buzzfeed.
The original story about Ray on Buzzfeed, posted last week, has now Born this past December, Ray was the only boy in the litter with four lively sisters.
At first, Ray seemed more timid than his sisters which led a vet to eventually discover that Ray was blind.
But he insists on his Facebook page that that's no reason to feel sorry for him.
'I can run and play and do everything else other dogs that can see do!' Ray 'says' on his Facebook page.
His blindness, however, was a bad omen at first since blind dogs have a much harder time finding the right family for adoption.
'My life then became a waiting game as to if I was ever going to find a home or not,' Ray's Facebook page says.
'Luckily my dad found out about me before it was too late, and saved my life!'
Ray now lives in Boston with two big brothers and a big sister, the family's other dogs Harley, Jack, and Maggie.
In March, Ray got his own Facebook page, which his owners use to post pictures of Ray dressed up in silly outfits, taking baths and playing with toys.
Since the page was created, the internet has fallen in love with the sightless dog - he has over 6,500 likes.
Love for Ray spread off Facebook where he was voted a 'dog of the week' at Modern Dog Magazine's website last month with over 3,000 votes.
Hometown fans in Boston have created a petition on ipetitions.com vying to give Ray the chance to drop the puck at a Bruins hockey game.
'Ray Charles may not have his sight, but we can still show him how much he means to all of us!' reads the petition.
And despite of all the attention, Ray seems to have remained relatively grounded despite his meteoric rise. According to Facebook, he just loves 'to make people happy and smile and bring joy to everyone around me!'
• The hilarious Russian marriage snaps that show how NOT to take a wedding photo

It's supposed to be the happiest day of your life, so what better way to celebrate your wedding than by posing as centaurs to demonstrate your love? Or riding a giant swan? Or perhaps fleeing a fire-throwing Transformer?

From the crude, to the rude, to the downright bizarre, this collection of images of provincial Russians getting married show exactly how not to take wedding photographs.

Several are carefully choreographed pictures that turn out to be absurd the moment the posing is over, yet they remain in the family albums for posterity. Others seem to be the newly betrothed wife seeking to show who is the boss after the nuptials.
Cars feature strongly - in one picture the couple's faces are superimposed on the wheels as they begin the journey on the family road to happiness. most cases, though, you wouldn't know this is supposed to the happiest day of their lives, though one couple are look full of joy as they serenade a statue of Soviet founder Vladimir Lenin.

The popular blogger who goes under the name 'pryf' simply says 'How not to take wedding pictures', and his montage is spreading like wildfire round the web.
