• HORRER MOMENT TRAINEE PILOT IS STABBED IN THE NECK

This is the horrific moment a trainee pilot is stabbed to death through the NECK by muggers who stole his iPhone.

Wasin Leuangjaem, 26, had walked to a corner shop to buy cigarettes at around 10pm on Wednesday night in Bangkok, Thailand.

CCTV shows him get into an argument with a man - dubbed the iPhone killer by Thai media - who is wearing a black motorcycle helmet.

The pair grapple as the attacker pulls out a large knife - which he plunges through Wasin's neck and into his back.

The young man is killed instantly and collapses onto the floor - as the attacker and an accomplice flee together on a motorbike.

Police said the victim's iPhone was missing after the attack and have launched a desperate appeal to find the killer and the man riding the motorcycle.

Yuttapon Srisompong, from the Thai Royal Police said: ''The CCTV clip shows the young man being stabbed. This is a very nasty killing.

''Please share as much as you can so that police can find the killer.

''The family are very upset. The police have to find him, they cannot be afraid of the criminals anymore.''

Officers in the Lat Phrao district of the city found Wasin dead in a pool of blood.

He had a stab wound on the front of his neck that had pierced his windpipe and a second stab wound on his back.

Police said the university graduate was a former employee of Bangkok Flight Services and had left to train to become a pilot.

A spokesman added: ''There had been a loud argument before. We are studying all the CCTV in the area to find the suspects.

''The victim's iPhone was missing and his car keys were. It may have been robbery or a personal argument.''
Officers then arrested Mr Oleg Martynov (60), another Russian, owner of the Pecktopah Restaurant, opposite the crime scene. He was taken to Pattaya Police Station.

Mrs. Patchama Krachaem, (57) a witness and Ms Greenburg’ s employee, said that Ms. Greenburg is the owner of Pizzora S-125 Restaurant nearby.

She said that they used to be business partners at Pecktopah but left to open their own restaurant after a ‘disagreement.’

Since then Ms Greenburg, who is a friendly lady, has been very busy as her new restaurant is popular with many regular customers. Meanwhile Pecktoman has been very quiet as nobody goes there anymore.

Recently, she said, Mr Martynov came by and threatened Ms Greenburg and so they made a statement at Pattaya Police Station.

Today, as Ms Greenburg was walking home from work, Mr Martynov confronted her and stabbed her in the stomach before running away.

 • Young mother is jailed for stabbing her boyfriend because he didn't call her every two hours - then casually smoking a cigarette over his blood-soaked body

A young mother who left her boyfriend fighting for his life after she stabbed him for not calling her while on a night out has been jailed.
Rhiann Burnie, 21, punched bricklayer Shane McMullen, 23, then knifed him in the shoulder when he returned from a night out with friends.
She then casually lit up a cigarette while standing over his blood-soaked body.
Despite the wound, which severed a major artery and caused significant blood loss, Mr McMullen survived - but has suffered memory loss and has nightmares of being stabbed again.
Burnie who had a reprimand and a caution for battery on her criminal record admitted wounding and was jailed for two years and eight months.
Sentencing, Recorder Andrew Long told Burnie: 'You sometimes deliberately set out to be confrontational with him.
'Throughout all of this, Mr McMullen never used violence against you, which in the circumstances was extraordinarily restrained, given the provocation.
'I am satisfied you were well aware you had caused him serious injury.
'Rather than offer him help or call an ambulance, you lit and smoked a cigarette. It’s clear Shane was close to death and only the skill of the medical team which operated on him saved his life.'
'He continues to suffer physical and psychological effects from what you did and is likely to do so for some considerable time.'
Burnley Crown Court was told the couple had been in a relationship for a year and initially were 'happy and healthy' yet a 'darker, more sinister side' of Burnie's character emerged.
Burnie had on two previous occasions turned on him with a knife with Mr McMullen having to wrestle it off her.
Mr McMullen lied at work about a black eye Burnie had given him, but never thought she was capable of using a knife and would often leave the house to let her cool down.
Photographer Ton Koene took a week on heroin addicts in the sewers of Peshawar, a desolate town in Northern Pakistan. In the cracks of the world, between rats and cockroaches and under bridges and on garbage dumps, he met people, sometimes children, who have lost almost all hope.
• Phuket lifeguards at Patong blame stingray for injured Chinese tourist, doctors say crabs

Lifeguards at Patong Beach believe that a Chinese tourist was injured by a stingray while swimming at the busy Phuket beach

The tourist, 28-year-old Li Guangwei, from Guangdong, shouted for help at about 3pm after he felt a stabbing pain in his left foot while swimming in front of the Banana Walk mall on Thaweewong Rd.
Lifeguards brought him ashore and provided first aid.

“He had a hole in his foot and was bleeding. He was very frightened,” one lifeguard told The Phuket News.

“He even had difficulty breathing. We provided first aid and Kusoldharm rescue workers took him to Patong Hospital.”

“Mr Li said he didn’t see a what caused the injury, but we believe that it might be a stingray,” the lifeguard added.

“Stingrays like to dig into the sand in shallow water after it has rained and when the sea water is muddy and swirling,” he said.

“Last year one tourist was injured by a stingray, and Mr Li is the first person this year,” the lifeguard said.

Sen Sgt Maj Phudit Nguanson of Phuket Tourist Police stationed at the beach end of Bangla Rd attended to Mr Li at the hospital.

“Mr Li is safe. His doctor told us that Mr Li was injured by marine life, which they believe was likely to have been a horseshoe crab,” he said.

“Doctors gave him an injection and and made sure he was feeling well enough before discharging from hospital. He has since returned to his accommodation,” Sen Sgt Maj Phudit said.

• The BloodWood Tree
Pterocarpus angolensis is a kind of teak native to southern Africa, known by various names such as Kiaat, Mukwa, and Muninga. It is also called the Bloodwood tree, so named for the tree’s remarkable dark red colored sap. A chopped trunk or or a damaged branch of the tree starts dripping deep red fluid, almost like a severed limb of an animal. The sticky, reddish-brown sap seals the wound to promote healing.

The red sap is used traditionally as a dye and in some areas mixed with animal fat to make a cosmetic for faces and bodies. It is also believed to have magical properties for the curing of problems concerning blood, apparently because of its close resemblance to blood. The tree is also used for treating many medical conditions such as ringworm, stabbing pains, eye problems, malaria, blackwater fever, stomach problems and to increase the supply of breast milk.

The baby boy “Aidin” who was cruelly stabbed at least 14 times and found buried alive in a field in Khon Kaen province back in February will start his bright future in the family of a Swedish couple.
The baby, now seven months old, will soon be adopted by a Swedish couple after being in the care of Kaen Thong Orphanage since he was abandoned by his mother earlier this year, according to Supachai Pathimchart, a staff member at the orphanage.
Supachai said the Department of Children and Youth usually runs a background check on couples who wishe to adopt a baby. Some of the criteria taken into consideration include their mental health, criminal records, and their capability to care for the baby, Khaosod reported.
On Feb. 23, a cattle raiser rescued the baby after she saw his foot emerging from the soil under a eucalyptus tree in Wang Yai district. The child was immediately sent to Khon Kaen Provincial Hospital and was named "Aidin" or "earth smell” by the hospital staff.
The doctor said it was the earth that helped stop the bleeding from the baby's stab wounds.
Aidin’s mother, who was only identified as a 42-year-old woman, was later tracked down and charged for attempted murder and abandoning her own child.
Pet Dog Survives After Being Stabbed in Forehead

A family's pet dog has miraculously survived after would-be burglars plunged a knife 12 centimetres into her forehead, directly between the dog's eyes.
Bella was seen happily running in the street minutes after she was brutally attacked by criminals she had prevented from breaking in.
The married South African artist and musician, a father of two, went on: "Bella usually goes for people she doesn't recognise and she would have definitely tried to stop any burglars either in our house or next door. "We think they must have stabbed her while she was doing that.
Clearing away the debris and detritus of modern mechanised warfare is some- thing that warring nations have had to deal with since the end of the First World War, and the inevitable result of twentieth century warfare was the
large-scale littering of land and sea with the wreckages that combat left behind. The massive and widespread land battles across Europe during the first and second world wars left their own particular trails of destruction and debris that had to be cleared away before normal life could once again resume in the post war periods, and those clear-up operations presented their own challenges, dangers and difficulties. In the British Isles during the Second World War, and for the first time in modern history, the country was faced with widespread destruction caused by bombing, and disrup- tion and damage to infrastructure caused by almost six years of conflict – some of that damage resulting from defensive measures taken by the military with the estab- lishment of aerodromes, fortifications and other defences.
Putting things back to how they were took very many years, although during the 1939–1944 period itself a far more immediate problem faced the authorities in Britain: the collection and disposal of shot down or crashed aircraft, allied and enemy. Such crashes needed almost immediate attention for a variety of reasons. How were they dealt with, and what subsequently happened to them?
On its belly, the Messerschmitt was first lifted by the 49 MU Coles crane and its undercarriage lowered, before the salvage party posed with their ‘prize’. To avoid detection from the air, the win

 • Photograph of school children acting out the crucifixion sparks outrage as picture goes viral

An image of children play-acting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at an unidentified school in Brazil for Holy Week complete with fake wounds and a crown of thorns has spread across the Internet.
Wearing a loin cloth and a fake painted beard, the boy who acts as Jesus holds his two arms above his neck, to signify the last agonizing hours of Christ on the cross.
Flecked across his body are red marks from his flogging at the hands of the Romans - played by two boys with mock-feathered galea helmets, who will presumably offer him fake vinegar and pretend to stab his side to ensure he has died at the culmination of the play.

In the front of the picture are two young girls playing the role of Jesus' mother, Mary and follower Mary Magdalene, who according to the Bible tearfully witnessed his death on Calvary.
The picture has been shared and liked some 230,000 times on Facebook and the reactions to the picture appear to vary from country to country.

Commenters writing in English and Portuguese appear to dislike the imagery on show in the photograph , with many seemingly mocking children acting out a religious scene.
One has posted the message, 'There seems to be no sign of intelligent life anywhere' in response to the image.

Others have made the point that the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ and its message may be difficult for children to understand.
Some have claimed that the exposure of children to the story is akin to manipulation - despite Brazil's status as the world's most populus Catholic country.
However, most messages on the Facebook page are in praise of the image - with the majority standing up for the right of the school and children to depict the scene.
One woman, Carlos Ferreira calls the criticism 'ridiculous', emphasizing the importance of the young learning 'the meaning of Easter and the story of Christ.'
• Barracuda Attacks Girl

Dad looks chuffed with himself after landing a giant barracuda, but whats up with his teenager daughter looking all glum? Well, the answer is on her arm, and its not for the squeamish. The monster fish with its rows of razor sharp teeth took a bite out of Koral Wiras arm before her dad finally got the better of the beast from the deep with a knife in the head. It had jumped out of the water and attacked.\nThe 14-year-old was fishing with her parents and a friend near Venice, Florida. The barracuda went for her dad's bait and ended up biting her instead. Her dad, Rob Parker said they anchored the boat four miles off shore, and he baited his rod with herring. Koral switched seats to get out of the hot sun, and watched as her dad cast. Moments later, she heard a splash and saw a long silver flash in the air. A barracuda jumped from the water and opened its mouth. As it hit her left arm, it clamped down with razor teeth. Koral said: When the fish dropped off my arm, the angled bites made my skin look like raw hamburger meat from the middle of the bicep to below the elbow. I was more scared than in pain. As the barracuda flopped around the boat, Koral ran to the bow and ducked. Her mum and friend climbed onto their chairs and screamed, while her dad grabbed his filet knife and stabbed the fish behind the eye. Koral looked at the still fish and couldn't believe it had bit her. It was 42 inches long and its blood and her own splattered the floor of the boat. Her dad cut the anchor with his filet knife and they zoomed back to the shore. On the trip back, Koral pressed her dad's sports shirt to her arm to slow the bleeding. While her friend sobbed, the teenager said she was too shocked to be upset.\nAfter stopping for a quick picture they dashed to hospital. Koral said she wasn't in pain at the moment, but was creeped out by the fish attack. Her arm needed 51 stitches, and doctors told her they had never treated a barracuda bite.
• Who you calling Spike? Mahalo, the dog who took on a porcupine and came off worse, narrowly lives to tell the tale

A dog in Canada is lucky to be alive after being attacked by a porcupine and stabbed with barbs all over, including the heart and lungs.
Mahalo was out playing with two other dogs in Saskatchewan - which shares a border with Montana in the south - when they encountered the spiky animal and were attacked.

The animal punctured all three canines with its quills, but Mahalo was hurt the most

The dog had to undergo surgery to remove the dangerous barbs.

Mike Gerrand, a friend of Mahalo's owner, has set up a GoFundMe page to help them cover the dog's extensive vet bills.
The cost of the surgeries has now hit $8,000.
"These dogs are the love of my dear friend Dennis' life," wrote Gerrand.

'Dennis is a youth worker at the Street Culture Project and runs a small Organic Farm outside Regina.
'Dennis has had to take weeks off work to travel to Saskatoon to be with his baby girl.'

As of Tuesday night, the page had raised over $10,000.
