Artist Lindsey Wohlman artwork on Andy Warhol’s famous Campbell’s Soup Cans
Artist and photographer Lindsey Wohlman reimagines Andy Warhol’s famous Campbell’s Soup Cans in a Kickstarter funded project entitled, Warhol Soup Cans Naked & Unlabeled. Warhol’s original piece featured 32 soup cans.
Warhol’s original work of art consists of thirty-two canvases, each measuring 20 inches (51 cm) in height × 16 inches (41 cm) in width and each consisting of a painting of a Campbell’s Soup can—one of each of the canned soup varieties the company offered at the time (1962). The individual paintings were produced using screen printing and Warhol debuted the work on July 9, 1962 in his first one-man gallery exhibition as a fine artist at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles. The exhibition marked the beginning of pop art on the West Coast.
